Switching from UptimeRobot?

UptimeRobot is the cheapest pure-uptime monitor on the market and has the most generous free tier in the space. If uptime + SSL is all you need, it's a fine choice. DomainCare exists for the case where you also need DNS change detection, email authentication (SPF/DKIM/DMARC/BIMI), WHOIS expiry, blacklist reputation, security headers, and site speed under one roof — at per-domain pricing instead of per-monitor pricing.

Honest take

UptimeRobot wins on three things: free tier (50 monitors), monitor count per dollar at scale, and brand trust (SOC 2, decade-long track record). It loses on feature breadth — there's no SPF / DMARC helper, no security-headers grading, no domain-expiry alerts in the base plan, no first-class blacklist monitoring. DomainCare is intentionally narrower (we don't do infrastructure monitoring or transaction monitoring) but deeper on everything that touches a domain's health.

One important caveat: UptimeRobot's free plan prohibits commercial useper their terms. Many users miss this. If you're monitoring a production domain for a business, you're on a paid tier either way — start the comparison from there.

Pricing at common volumes

UptimeRobot prices per monitor; DomainCare prices per domain. These don't map 1:1 — one domain in DomainCare runs ~12 checks. The rows below compare comparable workload, not comparable units.

How to migrate

  1. 1.Sign up for DomainCare — 30-day trial covers 1 domain, no credit card.
  2. 2.Add your primary domain. The first full scan covers uptime, SSL, DNS, email auth, WHOIS, blacklists, security headers, and site speed in seconds.
  3. 3.Wire your existing UptimeRobot notification channels (Slack / Discord / webhook / email / push) into Settings → Notifications.
  4. 4.Run both products in parallel for one week to confirm coverage on every alert UptimeRobot has previously fired for you.
  5. 5.Add remaining domains, cancel UptimeRobot once you've confirmed parity.
