Notifications overview
How DomainCare routes alerts to your team — channels, severity-based routing, digest scheduling, and per-check controls.
Notifications overview
DomainCare sends alerts when checks detect meaningful changes to your domains. The notification system controls where alerts go, when they arrive, and which events you care about.
How routing works
Every alert has a severity that determines how it's delivered by default:
| Severity | API value | Default routing | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| Critical | high | Immediate dispatch to all channels | Site down, SSL expired, blacklisted |
| Needs attention | medium | Daily digest | DNS record changed, PTR missing, certificate expiring soon |
| Low | low | Daily digest | Slow response, advisory configuration change |
| Info | info | Weekly digest only | Lighthouse score drop, TTL change, advisory blacklist listing |
You can override the default routing for any channel — for example, send Needs-attention alerts immediately to Slack while keeping email on daily digest.
Channels
DomainCare supports five notification channels, all available on every plan:
- Email — HTML alerts to any address, with deep links to check details and docs
- Slack — messages to a channel via incoming webhook
- Discord — messages to a channel via webhook
- Webhook — JSON POST to any URL for custom integrations
- Browser push — desktop notifications via the web app
See Notification channels for setup instructions.
Digests
DomainCare batches non-immediate alerts into scheduled digests:
- Daily digest — sent once per day, collects Needs-attention and Low events
- Weekly digest — sent once per week, includes Info events and a summary
Digest timing is configured per channel. Events that are already stale (e.g., a problem that resolved before the digest fires) are excluded automatically.
Per-check controls (Pro+)
Pro and Business plans can fine-tune notifications at the check level:
- Mute a check — suppress all alerts from a specific check on a specific domain
- Disable a check — stop running the check entirely
- Per-event-type toggle — silence specific event types within a check
See Per-check controls for details.
Critical-severity escalation (Pro+)
If a Critical alert is not acknowledged within 15 minutes, DomainCare escalates to the next notification channel in your configured order. See Escalation.
Never miss a critical alert
